Uganda's 10 National Parks
Uganda's national parks cover over 20% of the country's land area β a remarkable commitment to conservation that has made Uganda one of Africa's top wildlife destinations.
Bwindi Impenetrable NP
Africa's most famous national park. Home to over 459 mountain gorillas β roughly half the world's entire population. Ancient forest dating back 25,000 years through ice ages.
Murchison Falls NP
The Nile forces through a 7-metre gorge creating the world's most powerful waterfall. Home to lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and over 450 bird species.
Queen Elizabeth NP
Uganda's most visited park. Famous for tree-climbing lions, elephant herds, and the Kazinga Channel boat safari. The Ishasha sector offers the globally unique sight of lions in fig trees.
Rwenzori Mountains NP
Africa's third-highest peak at 5,109m. UNESCO-listed Rwenzori Mountains with glaciers, giant lobelias, and heather forests. Multi-day treks for serious mountaineers and hikers.
Kibale Forest NP
The world's best chimpanzee trekking experience. Kibale has 13 primate species and over 1,500 chimpanzees. Also home to rare colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and 370 bird species.
Kidepo Valley NP
One of Africa's most remote and spectacular parks. Vast semi-arid savannah with cheetah, lions, buffalo, and rare species not found elsewhere in Uganda. An off-the-beaten-path treasure.
Murchison Falls β Nature's Power
At Murchison Falls, the entire Nile River β 300 cubic metres per second β is forced through a rock crevice just 7 metres wide. The explosive force creates a roar audible from kilometres away and a rainbow that hangs permanently in the mist.
Uganda's largest national park (3,893 kmΒ²) surrounds this phenomenon, offering game drives across vast savannahs, boat safaris to the base of the falls, and night game drives revealing nocturnal wildlife.
